One more notch on the best post

Branching out from our usual design focus of skiing, climbing, hiking, and military clothing, Beyond has been chosen by California wild land firefighters to design their new Wild Land Fire Fighting uniform. Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, the yet to be determined suite of garments will include new fabrics developed for the needs of WLFF making sure their brave men and women stay safe.

Scott Jones noted in a meeting recently that "taking our expertise in technical clothing yet allowing the garments to also have a dressed uniform look, and meet all flame retardent requirements, has been the biggest challenge. Similar to playing the piano well, and quiet. Its been fun."

Editor's Choice Award from Backpacker Magazine 2011

Its been a busy week here at Beyond. At the airport, on my way to LA, I happened upon the latest issue of Backpacker Magazine. Within those pages was a nice little article about Beyond's new Roughrider pant, under the head line of 2011 Editor's Choice SNOW. A new EC this year for BP, and we are honored to have been the only choice for pants. Especially with the incredible choice these days from fellow companies.

The pants, tested by Editor-in-cheif Jonathan Dorn, fit his 6'6" frame perfectly and was said to be impressed with its versatile range of temperatures and winter environments. This is not surprising as the fabric used in the Roughrider is the Steel, Schoeller Dynamic with 3X Dry.
